Mid September Happenings posted

Ahhhh, a laid back weekend with a hint of craziness, a nice change. Plus it was especially nice to get treated to a great meal and night of going out - much thanks to Jeff. So Friday Kari's fam showed up, we hung out, played video/board games, ate pizza, had homebrew, etc. My body was confused by the relaxation and wanted insanity, but it worked out.

Saturday we were lazy for the most part then did a little shopping. And by shopping I mean we just browsed, but it was nice - sort of. I mean, Jeff wanted to look at amps and stuff, so we checked out Guitar Center, which I'm vowing to never enter again. Seriously. I went in there and was really impressed with the amount of gear... then I found the studio equipment room... then I found the stage equipment room... then I found the DJ room... I about died. each room I found it got worse. The bill I could have racked up there is incredible, and at one of the brokest points of my life. I will never go back. However, it got me excited to DJ again. I still think I'm going to pursue that one day. But I'm gonna wait til I am old and feeble.

Besides that, Kari's mom surprised me with the dopest hat. I really like it. It's got the biggest Cubs logo ever, haha. My wife and her mom rule.

Anyway, after shopping, my aunt/uncle/cousins came over to hang out. Then my dad dropped in with a surprise visit. We had some homebrew and goofed around for a bit before heading to Taki... where we ate a ridiculous amount of sushi, had drinks, etc. It was really nice. The staff treated us superbly as always. Free drinks, free shots, etc. I love Taki. And I love Taki even more when someone is willing to spend money. Thanks again, Jeff. Afterwards we headed downtown. Not for Luke's show :(. However, we did hit up Red Monk for some quality beer and I sort of ran back and forth to Vaudeville to say hi to friends. It was a great night of family debauchery (in the wild, non-sexual way).

Sunday was one of those days where I was still looking for fun but had no money, which led to Zach and I Skating/Soaping/Heeling around downtown. I always forget about the kind of fun I had in H.S. and college. Ya know, free fun. I think I need to find more of it. It's healthier, nicer, more immature, etc. I love it. Hopefully people wanna play.

So yeah, I don't really have pics of the family stuff because somehow no one had a camera, wtf. That never happens. I guess there are a couple cell phone pics... But I do have plenty of pics of the Skating, etc.

  • The thing about Guitar Center is that everything seems cool until you realize that everything costs way more than it should unless there's a sale, and that they have the least helpful staff I've ever talked to. I've heard they've been better on the days I haven't gone there, but I'm not sure I believe it...

You definitely typed "wife" again, it's like you mean it or something.

  • that's probably very true. however, there's just something about seeing it all in person and being able to play. being able to play makes me realize how awesome stuff us, thus i want it more.
