slightly less sketchy than my old zip tie method. Now i look at my stand with dial indicators and wonder how I did it any other way

Haha, nice. At first, I tried wrapping some solder around the forks but it wasn't sturdy enough... clamps+nails FTW

no idea what your skill level is, but, maybe try lowering the tension in your spokes. Should help with the curbs
