Photos of my mechanical bee and filigree tattoo by Joshua Bowers at Iron Heart. Why a mechanical bee? I feel like people's reasons for getting tattoos and tattoo meanings are always cheesy, but here's where it came from....

My ADD (busy bee), constantly-doing-something (worker bee) attitude. I'm allergic to bees, I once got stung by 30+ bees at once... and i've wanted a tattoo reminding me "to be" for a long time.

All of these things combined convinced me to finally get my bee tattoo. So I went in to talk to Joshua Bowers with my bee ideas, my love of filigree, and my love for technology...

After a short conversation, we came up with a victorian mechanical bee... It would give the idea of technology without becoming dated, and match the style of filigree.

He nailed it. I love it.
