Welp, last week my site broke... so instead of fixing it, I decided to write a complete new design, ha. Actually, when I say "design" I really don't mean "design" at all. As you can see it's not much different than before. Lots of grays, same header, etc. However, I reprogrammed the entire site. That's right - I rewrote every bit of code, haha. I also changed the DB around a bit.
That may seem a bit dumb, but over the last 6 years, I've just been adding on and enhancing certain parts of the site. After a while the code started to get pretty sloppy. Plus, I've learned how to rule at programming since then so I decided to rewrite - completely. I'm super glad I did too because everything is much much lighter and the DB stuff is all sooo much faster.
Anyway, you don't care about all that.... Here's what's noticeably different.
-I removed the "header pics" for all my friends on the homepage.
-The site header is actually the same, heh.
-And yeah, I use tables on this site, WHUT.
-I use a lot of css too...
-The latest pictures are now displayed as images on the home page.
-I even added random pics below that. I think those are fun.
-The site allows comments/tags on so much more content.
-I added a "travel" section to my bio with a link to a google map api.
-I added paging to more things, like photo albums, etc.
-The new paging is so much nicer and faster.
-Prev/Next buttons are way faster for albums/tags with tons of photos.
-All my homies are back on the homepage again, haha
So yeah, welcome to version 5 of derek.broox.com. That's about 1 design a year... not too bad I guess. I'm just so freakin happy that my backend is more solid. Now I gotta write an admin. crap.
Oh yeah, Vegas was nice... pics and story soon.
Look around, every piece of the site is at least a little different than it used to be. Some are drastically different. Since everything is new, let me know if you find any bugs... I'm sure there are a couple.
