Serrated? Smooth? What are you using it for? Any preferred opening mechanisms?

smooth, just a simple knife for opening things or whatever. i'm not too price sensitive. i had a kershaw scallion that was awesome, but it got taken away. i was just about to buy it again but wanted to see if anyone else had any suggestions first!

I'm partial to my Emerson I carry every day. I have a kershaw that just won't quit, too. On duty I carry a cheapo folder because I beat the shit out of it at work opening things and taking off license plates. Benchmades are great, but I can't justify the cost if I lose it (or get it taken away) for an EDC knife. Could look at a Heckler and Koch knife, made by benchmade at a lower cost (but with lower quality steel and parts)
Buck makes a nice variety of quality small knives. Ordered one on line from the mfgr for Thenell's graduation

I like my spyderco a lot, it's slim in the pocket, sharp as a razor when new, easy to resharpen, and cheap and common enough that it's no biggie if you lose it

I've got a SOG Twitch II that I really like. Small, easy open, quality. Carry in my front pocket easily.
Kershaw Ken Onion Chive 1600. Many different finishes. I have 5. I dull 3 and send them in to be factory sharpened to the point you can dry shave your arm with them. Also has speed assist openening. Fun switch-blade action.
I don't carry one all the time, but the knife I always have handy is the Leatherman Crater C33T. It's cheap, light, and has a bottle opener!

Derek I can look up on my Amazon history to see what I ordered. I got Rod one too but it's bigger and he doesn't like how it feels in his pocket when he sits down.
