I dunno why, but I'm still continually amazed by how bad Google is at messaging apps.

  • And apparently they're nuking support for Hangouts for non-business people?

  • They cancel them so quickly nowadays that I haven't even gotten around to trying them.

  • I mean, that product has been dated and dying for years. Allo is getting the ax too.

  • It's confusing though. Apparently they're killing consumer Hangouts and rolling out their Enterprise Hangouts chat app to consumers. lol

  • My crew has made the switch to Discord for everything now, which is... fine, I guess?

The really baffling part is that Hangouts tied directly in to Android messaging. For a while, I was the only one that had to use an extra app in order to communicate with that group.

  • Yeah. Hopefully they can actually make Messages the solution. I hope they can integrate Google voice with it.

  • I use WhatsApp and Facebook messenger for most of my group chats.

  • I should look at WhatsApp. We're all getting as far away from Facebook as we possibly can.
