Driving home from dinner with my father-in-law and his buddies, I asked if there were any dive bars in Mesa. We found one. Pool tables, Marilyn Manson on the speakers, Joel Osteen on the TV, and there are escorts.

Tonight was awesome. I got to hang with my buddy, Allie, my cousin, Alexia, and see some fun bands. All bookended by 2 great 30 minute uber experiences.
Phoenix is weird, but also pretty cool.

Calgary is cool and Banff National Park is beautiful. Home after a week of exploring, watching hockey, snowshoeing, hiking, soaking in hot springs, and enjoying a bunch of great food + drinks.

The Canadian stereotypes are real. Hockey hair, mustaches, and friendly with “buddy, guys, and eh?” actually being the most popular words.
I always expected this to be exaggerated, but it’s very real. At least in Alberta.

Over the past few days in Canada I’ve met some fantastic young folks with a glow that I’ve not seen in a long time. It gave me a hope for the future that my home in the United States does not.
